Audition

Stars: Ryo Ishibashi, Eihi Shiina, Testsu Sawaki, Jun Kunimura.
Seven years after the death of his wife, company executive Aoyama is invited to sit in on auditions for an actress. Leafing through the resumes in advance,
his eye is caught by Yamazaki Asami, a striking young woman with ballet training. On the day of the audition, she's the last person they see. Aoyama is hooked.
He notes her number from her file, calls her and takes her to dinner. He hesitates to call again, worried that he'll seem too eager. When he does, Asami knowingly
lets the phone ring for some time before answering. She's alone in her darkened room - alone, that is, apart from the writhing victim she has tied up in a sack on the floor...
This is truly a twisted, psychological and detemented horror/thriller film.
Catfish In Black Bean Sauce

Stars: Chi Moui Lo, Mary Alice, Paul Winfield, Sanaa Lathan, Lauren Tom, Kieu Chinh,Tzi Ma.
With a superb cast, this movie takes a comedic look at a dramatic situation when the birth mother of two Vietnamese children, adopted and raised by two
African American parents, flies to America to see the children she has not seen since they were small children in Vietnam. A real gem of an independent movie.

Book 1: "The Biography of Philip Reid: Historical Fiction"

Synopsis:
Slaves made up half of the workforce that built the U.S. Capitol. The most famous of these was Philip Reid, who supervised the bronze casting of the Statue of Freedom atop the Capitol's dome.
The story of Philip Reid begins with his African heritage, steeped in the Yoruba culture of sculpture and metal casting. Philip’s life as a slave in America is covered in his birth and rearing in Charleston,
and his purchase by Clark Mills, the Washington foundry owner who had the contract to cast the Statue of Freedom. This is the story of how Philip, a slave, came to supervise the bronze casting of
The Statue of Freedom while enduring the disappointments of American slavery. Philip Reid's enslavement is ended by the Washington, D.C. Emancipation Proclamation. He becomes a respected member
of Washington's Free Black society, establishes his own business and marries an educated Free Black on the very same day that the Statue of Freedom was raised to the Capitol dome.
Book 2: "Assata"
Synopsis: It's been over three decades since political activist, Assata Shakur was pulled over by N.J.
state troopers for an alleged faulty tail light, shot twice and then charged with the death of both a state
trooper and one of her close friends. In her autobiography, Assata shares her personal accounts about what happened
on May 2, 1973 and the unjust, uncivilized treatment she endured before escaping from prison and fleeing to Cuba.
Book 3: "Yoga: The Poetry of the Body"
Synopsis: Rodney Yee, named the "stud-muffin guru" by Time magazine, is one of the most sought-after
yoga instructors in the world, packing classrooms in Hawaii and California and selling millions of copies of his
17 videos. Yoga: The Poetry of the Body is his first book, and is as much a compendium of practical instruction
on the most common poses as it is a dialogue on Yee's philosophy of yoga.
